Angled Bay Windows

Angled Bay Windows

This is the trickiest one to measure for and requires a couple of tools.

  • A tape measure.
  • A pencil.
  • A small amount of cardboard.
  • A pair of scissors.

1. Cut 2 pieces of cardboard approximately 30 cm long and as wide as the depth chart, below, dictates.

Slat size(mm) Depth(mm)
27 & 35 60
50 & 64 80

2. Remember to account for anything that is protruding from the window, such as handles.Add the depth of your handle to the overall depth according to the chart above. Assuming you select 35mm slats and a 30mm handle your cardboard strip would need to be 30cm long by 9cm depth.

3. Now that you have your cardboard strips you can find out your measurements. See the diagram below for guidance.

4. Place the strips in the left angle first, and bring them together until the front corners of the cardboard meet. Mark points "A" and "B".

5. Repeat this step for the right side angle, marking points "C" and "D".

6. Measure between points "B" and "C" to obtain the width of the front window.

7. Measure from point "A" outward to the desired width to obtain the width of the left window.

8. Measure from point "D" outward to the desired width to obtain the width of the right window.

9. Deduct 7mm from each of your measurements to allow for clearance.

We do recommend that 3 measurements are taken for each blind across the window recess and that the smallest measurement is used.

DROPS OF BLINDS FOR BAY WINDOWS

Blinds Finishing At A Window Sill Or Floor:

Any deductions MUST be made prior to placing the order.

Measure the drop of the recess (or from top of headrail if not fixing directly at the top) to the window sill/floor.

This is the drop to order to allow the blind to rest. Should you require the blind shorter, we would recommend no more than 1cm to be deducted.

Blinds Finishing Midway Down A Wall:

Measure the required drop for the blind (from the top of the headrail to where the blind is to finish.

This is the drop to be ordered.
